Complete, on-premises S3 object storage solution for active access to cold archive data offers optimal price/performance and security for multi-petabyte environments

Valhalla, NY and Austin, TX, November 17, 2020 — FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc. and Caringo, Inc. announced today a joint marketing partnership to offer a complete, on-premises data management solution for multi-petabyte environments that seamlessly integrates tape-based and object storage solutions, solving challenges to securely and cost-effectively managing data. Using Caringo’s Swarm Intelligent Data Management solution with FUJIFILM Object Archive software can help organizations manage the continued and compounding growth of infrequently accessed data.

“To date, only the large cloud service providers have combined disk-based and tape-based object storage solutions to enable their cloud storage services,” said Tony Barbagallo, Caringo CEO. ”The reason they have done this is to offer the optimal price, performance and access characteristics to unstructured data at massive scale. The combined solution of Caringo Swarm and FUJIFILM Object Archive software now delivers these benefits to any organization with a multi-Petabyte environment.”

The combined offering from Fujifilm and Caringo can be deployed either as a complete, on-premises object platform for hot, warm and cold storage, or as a self-contained object storage solution. Additionally, the solution can be set up in an air-gapped fashion with no external access for secure deployments. The use of Enterprise Identity Management, token-based authentication, object versioning and Write-Once Read Many (WORM) functionality adds additional layers of protection from unauthorized access or a malicious attack.

“In addition to helping to lower costs and providing high reliability, the combination of Caringo Swarm with FUJIFILM Object Archive software delivers security and dependability,” said Peter Faulhaber, president & CEO, FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc. “By deploying as an on-premise air-gapped solution, organizations have an added layer of security which is designed to meet regulatory requirements, and to keep highly confidential and mission-critical data protected and on-site.”

Swarm also includes robust data and tenant management functionality available via a web-based UI or API and can set policies to transfer data for backup and disaster recovery to any service or device that supports the S3-compatible web services interface. This enables organizations to tier data to any of the public cloud providers (for instance, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud or Wasabi Hot Storage) that can serve as the foundation for an end-to-end data protection and disaster recovery (DR) strategy.

The FUJIFILM Object Archive solution is available now and can be purchased from http://fujifilmobjectarchive.com. To purchase Caringo Swarm, visit www.caringo.com.
